Who We Are

Sharon Douglas – Partner and President

Dr. Douglas’ family roots and association with Los Angeles began 3 generations ago when her great grandparents were active in local politics here in L.A.; her grandparents were married here in L.A.; her father was born here in L.A.; her great grandparents have subsequently been buried in Forest Lawn here in L.A., and her great Uncle’s ashes were strewn off Mulholland Drive (but don’t tell the authorities….).

Dr. Douglas obtained her Ph.D. here in L.A.    Drawn to the politics of development while simultaneously concerned about influencing the design and permanent ramifications of development, she immediately pursued professional involvement in real estate development.  Living in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time, her endeavors began with Kaufman and Broad (now KB Homes) in Dublin, CA.  After that prodigious start, as they say, “the rest is history…”

Since then and throughout her career, Dr. Douglas has become thoroughly familiar with the organizational and regulatory process of government and institutions throughout California representing Clients (see Client List) in over 150 California municipal jurisdictions, 16 California counties, and 21 states (see Jurisdictions).  She has served on Santa Clara County Commission on Economic Stability, California Land Use Task Force, Claremont General Plan Advisory Committee, and the Board for the Building Industry Association, been Chair for both Southern California and Montana International Council of Shopping Centers Government Relations Committees, and continues to serve on ICSC’s Environmental Subcommittee while remaining active in several Organizations and/or Associations (see Organizations).

Dr. Douglas, as Founder and Managing Director of Douglas Development, brings to the table seasoned, successful experience, numerous personal, political, governmental and industry contracts, credibility, respect, energy, perseverance, and a keen understanding of the building and real estate industry from an international, federal, state, regional, local, environmental, and political perspective.  Her leadership training, managing/expediting prowess, and ability to knowledgeably navigate governmental agencies and political jungles emanate from obtaining her Ph.D. in Government at Claremont Graduate School, one of the top 10 private graduate schools in the U.S., and Law at Southwestern Law School.

Diane Little – Project Manager If Sharon were Sherlock Holmes, Diane would be her “Watson.”  Diane is experienced in AutoCad, preparing construction documents, and coordinating construction projects and has provided 5 invaluable years to the Company.  Prior to joining Douglas Development, Diane was Project Coordinator for Washington Mutual, and Project Design Manager for Home Savings.

Diane holds a B.A. in Interior Design from Cal State, Long Beach.  She lives in LaVerne with her husband who is a Workman’s Comp attorney and has two boys who are extremely active in every sport every season.  With all that going on, Diane is a tired puppy.

Andrea Impastato – Accounting Andrea’s superb accounting detail and expertise has kept Douglas Development in compliance with the law and out of trouble with the IRS.  She has been working with Douglas Development since the early 1990’s.  Andrea lives in Claremont, is originally from Colombia, and returns at least once a year to see family.  She is indeed a lucky female.
